The role of a Graphic Designer

A graphic designers role is to assemble media together. This is  to create a unique design. A graphic designer produces graphics mainly printed and digital media. Sometimes they are also responsible for illustration and website designs.  A key responsibility of a designer is present information. This is done in a way that is both informative and easy to navigate.

Graphic designers should be able solve the problems associated with visual communication.  The designer must identify what the key areas of the communication are needed. Then they go about finding the a solution. Hopefully this will leave the viewer feeling certain and positive about the key message.  This process often can take many goes to produce the final concept. Design solutions often  dependt on the intended usage of the media. They are also dependant on the target demographic for the communication.

Graphic designers must be in tune with the the behavior of the target audience. This helps to create solutions that are effective.

Graphic designers need to have  a good knowledge of production tools and software available.  Some of the key methods of production are illustration, type setting,  printing, photography. Video and animation are also required sometimes. Colour management can often be a difficult process. Graphic designer use tools such as Pantone colour books and calibration tools to help manage this.

In days gone buy a  designer’s folio was often a large book in which the artist carried printed samples of their work as a show case for industry employers and clients.  Since the 1990s, portfolios are now much more likely to be in a digital format. The accepted standard current is Adobe Portable Document Format or PDF. If you are looking for graphic design brisbane check out Juno Creative.
